Haitauchen in Südafrika

Ganz nahe mit dem weissen Hai…faszination und adrenalin.

Nur eine knappe Stunde von Hermanus entfernt liegt Klein Baai ein versteckter Kuestenort der immer wieder Anziehungspunkt fuer Touristen aus aller Welt ist. Denn nirgendwo sonst auf der Welt ist kommt man dem Weissen Hai so schnell so nah.

Schon frueh am Morgen treffen sich Adrenalin Hungrige um mit dem Raubtier auf Tuchfuehlung zu gehen. Unter Ihnen auch Sven von Flying Media und Anne von M&M Travel Solutions. Gemeinsam gingen beide auf Tauchfuehlung mit dem Tier. Ziel war es fuer das neue Projekt „Suedafrika-TV“ einen spannenden und informativen Beitrag zu gestalten. Was muss man beachten? Welche Sicherheitsvorkehrungen sind im Vorfeld zu treffen? Wie laeuft das Tauchen ab? Was kann man erwarten und wie sind die Eindruecke und Erlebnisse im Nachhinein.

In line with our new exciting project “Südafrika-TV” our team visited the Philippi Children's Centre in Mitchells Plain Cape Town to find out how to best support this great project.
This day care centre provides a safe learning environment for children from the surrounding areas – and hosts up to 200 children. Philippi provides food, diapers, education, full day care and a fun play environment for the little ones at a small cost.

Follow the example of Sven, Anne and Katharina and take on a sponsorship for R 240 per month and give back to the less fortunate.

The biggest challenge for future is to support Helen & her team to be able to get a new van to be able to pick up and drop off the kids from their homes.

What is 'die Tweede Nuwe Jaar'?

Today, browsing through twitter and facebook I realized that there are many tourists and, shockingly, South Africans, that are clueless about the 'Tweede Nuwe Jaar'. So I decided it is important to give a short explanation so that we do not all remain in complete ignorance :).

Translated from Afrikaans, 'Die Tweede Nuwe Jaar' means 'the second new year' and it takes place on the 2nd of January every year in our beautiful mother city - Cape Town.

Also called the Kaapse Klopse, Coon Carnival and Cape Town Minstrel Carnival this is basically a minstrel festival whereby thousands of minstrels flock to the streets of Cape Town in colorful outfits and painted faces to sing and dance spontaneously to celebrate new beginnings. This day is special to Capetonians, celebrated since the mid 1800s. It is the day Dutch slave masters went on holiday and the slaves enjoyed a day of freedom to celebrate the new year.

Cape Town is the only place in Africa that celebrates this significant day. It used to be a public holiday in the Mother City, but 17 years ago (approximately) the provincial government removed the legislation that allowed this festive day to be a public holiday. Many have paid no attention to this and have continued to practice it as a holiday.

With such history and excitement, who would want to ban our locals from celebrating a traditional event?

Unfortunately, even 18 years after the 'freeing' of South Africa, our colorful city remains to some extent divided. Although gradually increasing/improving, the festival is attended by few blacks and whites and remains largely a mixed race (commonly referred as "coloured") enjoyment spectated by some tourists.

Hopefully in the future, more of us South African's can put our guard down and celebrate this important day with each other so that the meaning of "Rainbow Nation" can be truly displayed and we as a nation can respect and enjoy each others cultural backgrounds.

Flying Media bei Dreharbeiten in Südafrika

Während einer 7-tägigen Reise durch verschiedenePrivatreservate in Südafrika, produzierte Sven Klawunder und sein Team von Flying Media einige Beiträge über das Thema Luxus-Safaris inSüdafrika. Neben Filmportraits über unterschiedlichste Lodges wurden auch die Durchführung und Qualität der einzelnen Safaris dokumentiert.
Eine TV-Doku sowie zahlreiche Videobeiträge entsteht nun innerhalb der Postproduktion über das interessante Thema in Deutschland.
Für Flying Media wieder ein Highlight in diesem Jahr, denn die Impressionen, Emotionen und unglaubliche Gastfreundschaft in Südafrika waren kaum zu übertreffen.
Bereits bei den Vorbereitungen sowie auch bei der Durchführung wurde Flying Media durch zahlreiche Partner unterstützt:

Wir werden auch hier in Kürze über die Einzelheiten und die Verbreitung unserer Beiträge informieren. Die Lodges wie Sabi Sabi earth Lodge, Garonga Lodge und Motswari Lodge haben jedenfalls auch bei uns nach den Dreharbeiten bleibende Eindrücke hinterlassen – jede Lodge auf ihre Art…
Ein kleiner Blick in die Zukunft: Flying Media hat bereits mehrere Hebel bewegt um auch in Zukunft Projekte in Südafrika und über Südafrika ins deutschsprachige Gebiet zu bringen. SÜDAFRIKA-TV.DE ist bereits in der konkreten Planungsphase und bereits beim Online-TV-Verlag als Projekt 2013 fest eingeplant. Im Februar 2013 fliegt Sven Klawunder (Inhaber Flying Media) bereits zu konkreten Planungsgesprächen nach Kapstadt.
